Chapter 13

Saturday August 19th, 10am

This has been a whirlwind week. Chance invited her to Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta yesterday. The wealthier kids all had passes, Kacyn didn’t. She had only been once, many years ago before Elise was born. Her mom had taken her and Brenna for Christmas when they were little.

Chance said he would get her a ticket and that Dan and Shay were going to be performing. She loved Dan and Shay and said yes without considering she had to watch Elise most Saturdays.

Even though Elise’s dad wasn’t working, he said he wasn’t going to babysit. Kacyn had retorted it was his kid, so it wasn’t babysitting. She shouldn’t be punished because he couldn’t keep his junk in his pants. This got her sent to the room.

She had called and begged Brandi, who agreed to watch her. She repeated several times she owed her big time.

She and Brandi are waiting outside for Chance, who should be here any minute. Shithead was still asleep and Mom was getting ready for work. The plan was for Brandi to bring Elise back about 7:30, mom should be back from work about then.

“There he is”, Brandi announces when she sees his car coming down the road.

“Thanks so much for this. Love ya”, Kacyn says as she runs to the end of their drive to hop in his car.

“Hey babe.” This has become Chance’s go to greeting.

“Oh my god, I’m so excited to see Dan and Shay tonight. I’ve never been to a concert before.”

“It’s just Wild Adventures, it’s not a real concert”, he scoffed.

“Just the same, I’ve never been to one. They’re kinda a big deal. Why are they coming to Valdosta?”

“They probably agreed to do this before they were famous. The concert will be fun. And there’s a couple cool coasters and water slides, but for the most part, Wild Adventures sucks. The best part will be seeing you in a bikini.”

“Well darn, I packed a one piece”, she joked.

“I hope not, you look too good to cover up.”

His tone conveyed he was serious about this. Kacyn shook it off without really thinking about it, besides she didn’t own a one piece. “I’m kidding silly.”
